FWSA 90th Annual Convention
June 15 - 18, 2O23

Far West Ski Association's 90th Annual
Convention is set for June 15-18, 2023, in Boise,
Idaho. It will be, once again, co-hosted by Intermountain
Ski Council and Bogus Basin Ski
Club, with a little help from Arizona Ski Council.
The Grove Hotel, the original AAA Four
Diamond full-service hotel in Boise, will be the
host hotel. Located in downtown Boise, it is
just 10 minutes from the airport. All of the
Convention activities and meetings will be held
at the state-of-the-art Boise Centre...just a short
walk across the commons. We last visited this
area in 2017, with the beautiful Boise River
nearby, and foothills that rise above the town.
The Capitol Building is three blocks away,
and is a popular tourist attraction. The Boise
Greenbelt is close by, with its wonderful walking
and bicycle paths, which will lead you along
the river, and down to the famous " Blue Turf "
Albertson's Stadium of Boise State University.
ISC and Bogus Basin Ski Club have planned
some outstanding activities for everyone to participate
in, beginning Wednesday evening, June
14, with a relaxing Happy Hour at one of the
local Brew Pubs. This will give the " early
birds " a chance to meet and greet their friends,
enjoy some pizza and have a nice adult beverage
or two while we play catch-up with what's
been happening since we were all together in
Portland, in June, 2022.
Thursday is shaping up with an exciting
River Rafting trip on the Payette River, beginning
at 8 a.m. There will also be a guided Bike
Tour on either a regular or electric pedal-powered
bike along the Greenbelt, which will include
a Wine Tour and Lunch. Arriving back
around 3 p.m. we will have time to get ready
for the 26th Annual Pub Crawl. We will be visiting
three of Boise's finest Brew Pubs/Restaurants
to mix and mingle for the evening.
On Friday, the 16th Annual Michael German
Memorial Golf Tournament - With a
Twist will take place at Top Golf. This is a
new craze that has hit the golf world, and
Boise will be opening the doors to their Top
Golf shop by the end of 2022. We will have
an opportunity to team up, and have some fun
competition for prizes, as well as, network
with our industry partners, and finish off with
a great lunch and awards. You will also have
the option of doing " A Day on the Mountain, " a
Bogus Basin adventure. There will be hiking,
mountain biking, Zip-lining, and the new
Mountain Coaster all at your disposal. Choose
any or all of these activities to keep you busy
for the day. Lunch will be provided, as well.
That's not all!! Boise will be busting out
all kinds of fun for us in 2023! Since The
Grove does not have an on-site pool -- in lieu
of our typical Pool Party and Club Happy
Hour, we will be combining those two activities
into two-and-a-half hours of interesting
and enticing activities at JUMP. JUMP was
the brain-child of Jack (JR) Simplot. It stands
for Jack's Urban Meeting Place, with the mission:
" Creating an environment for inspiring
human potential " . Do group team-building sessions,
make a short movie, choreograph a
dance, or just spend time getting to know one
another. Food and beverages will be part of
the experience.
We will be done with all this in plenty of
time to get to the Boise Centre for the 37th
Annual Silent Auction and Snowsports Trade
Show on Friday evening. Network with your
favorite ski resorts, plan trips for your club
and council, get trip details and pricing, and
participate in a fantastic Silent Auction that

can bring you a plethora of adventure trips for
the coming season. On Saturday, you will
have the opportunity to sit in on some fascinating
Snowsports Leadership Academy Sessions,
Public Affairs Panels, listen to
outstanding guest speakers, and spend time at
lunch and dinner socializing with all of your
Far West friends who come to this event.
The Saturday Evening Awards Banquet
will recognize the industry partners and volunteers
for outstanding contributions to
FWSA and snowsports. This will be followed
by musical entertainment and dancing!
Sunday delegates will participate in the
FWSA General Session and Elections, and the
Club and Council Communicatons Awards
and Charities & Our Communities recognition
certificates will be presented. A fabulous
breakfast buffet will be served to enjoy before
heading home.
For any of those who plan to stay over,
a separate Adventure Trip has been planned.
CALLING ALL FISHERMEN, a trip to Hells
Canyon for Sturgeon fishing has been set up.
Trip includes:
n 2 nights stay at Best Western Motel
in Riggins, Idaho.
n Fishing trip on Monday morning,
June 19, off the Pittsburg Landing.
n Return to Riggins for 2nd
overnight stay.
n Head home on Tuesday morning,
June 20.
