Steam Ahead
transformation is
bringing significant
changes, and includes
the relocation of the
lower gondola
terminal. It is
expending $200
million on and around
the mountain to
enhance the Steamboat
experience for all
visitors. In the
process, with an
appreciation for
the impact of the
construction
projects on the
environmemt,
critical strategies were
developed to be as
green and sustainable
as possible.
Steamboat, CO:
Phase 1 of Steamboat's Full Steam
Ahead transformation last season brought significant
changes, including the relocation of
the lower gondola terminal, the installation of
escalators and the demolition of Gondola
Square to make way for the new Steamboat
Square amenities. Phase II will include the relocation
of the lower terminal of the Christie
Peak Express lift and the first leg of the Wild
Blue Gondola, which will take guests to the
new Greenhorn Ranch learning center at midmountain.
Redevelopment of Steamboat
Square continues with The Range Food Hall,
Skeeters Ice Rink and slope-side guest amenities
including new and expanded restrooms,
lockers and more.
With an appreciation for the impact of
the construction projects on the environment,
the resort has stayed focused on four critical
strategies to be as green and sustainable as
possible.
n Waste Reduction: All steel and concrete
materials were recycled during the demolition
project for a 70% diversion of
demolition waste. For construction, building
materials that contain a high level of recycled
content are being used.
n Energy Efficiency: In the new base
area buildings, steps are being taken to be as
efficient with energy and water, as possible.
Energy and water use is being monitored in
real time, which allows operations to be adjusted
to conserve energy and water throughout
the day.
n Guest Education: Guests and staff

are being educated about the resort sustainability
efforts and how they can take action to
preserve our environment.
n LEED Certification: All base area
buildings will be LEED Certified, which is a
rigorous government review process. Therefore,
not only will the buildings use less energy,
but they will also be healthier for staff and
guests.

Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort, CA:
(Formerly Squaw Valley and Alpine
Meadows): The highly anticipated $65 million
Base-to-Base Gondola will be completed
for the upcoming season. Linking the two legendary
base areas has been a dream of many
for decades. When completed, it will give
skiers and riders a brand new way to access a
combined 6,000 acres of storied terrain. It is
estimated that Palisades Tahoe will now be
the 3rd largest ski resort in North America.
Connecting the Olympic Valley and Alpine
Meadows Ski Resorts, the base-to-base gondola
will climb and descend nearly 2,000 vertical
feet over a 16-minute ride offering
panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra
Nevada. It will be the first gondola of its kind
in North America, with 4 terminals, 3 of
which you can disembark to go ski or snowboard.
Additional enhancements include a full
replacement of the Red Dog lift, expansion of
the Funitel Plaza, and installation of automatic

snowmaking systems at both parts of the resort.

Crystal Mountain, WA:
Over the next five years, $100 million in
infrastructure and service advancements will
be invested at Crystal Mountain, and will
transform the base of one of the Pacific Northwest's
most beloved mountains with a focus
on greater access, more space and significantly
enhanced skier services. Work began in the
spring with a $25 million investment in additional
parking and a new 25,000 sq. ft. skier
services facility, called Mountain Commons.
The existing skier services building will be replaced
with a two-story building, and will include
a new guest services and ticketing
experience, retail, dining, and an expanded
slope-side beach area. The project is expected
to open for the 2023 - 2024 winter season.

Mammoth Mountain, CA:
The beginning stage of ground and infrastructure
work to facilitate the replacement
of two key lifts, Canyon Express (Chair 16) at
Canyon Lodge and Broadway Express (Chair
1) at Main Lodge began this summer. These
new high-speed six-pack lifts are planned to
be operational in winter 2023-2024. Also
begun were improvements to the popular Mill
Café that includes expansion of indoor dining
seats, restrooms, with new furnishings and an
exterior refresh. Mammoth began a multiyear
snowmaking enhancement program that
