Hello fellow snowsports enthusiasts, and wanna-be skiers and boarders.
Are you tired of trying to find likeminded people like you who just want to
have fun on the slopes? Then, this is the right article for you.
The benefits of being a member of the Far West Ski Association (FWSA)
are numerous. They include: travel opportunities; discounts on lodging,
equipment and services at resorts; recreational racing; publications; social
opportunities; leadership events and activities at the annual convention,
and so much more.
If you have a local club in your area, we would like to encourage you to
check them out. There are many choices provided for year-round outdoor
activities, including skiing/boarding, hiking, biking, golf, theater, and a diverse
array of social activities. The wide variety of social events the clubs conduct
provides an opportunity to meet more people with similar interests on the
club level. In addition, if you are a club member, you receive free membership
in a regional council and the Far West Ski Association. The regional
councils also have trips and social events.
Perhaps you are not necessarily interested in joining a club or there isn't
one in your area, signing up as a Direct Member is the way to go. You will
receive all the benefits of membership, including the ability to join one of
the FWSA North American or International Ski Weeks or Mini-Trips.

order to join go to our website at www.fwsa.org, click on Member Corner
and click Direct Member; scroll down to Apply Online and follow the
prompts. You have the choice of joining FWSA as an individual, couple or
family. Do not forget to read all the information provided for you.

The 2023-2024 edition of the Far West
Skier's Guide - the 36th Annual - is available
online at www.fwsa.org. Since the
2010-2011 issue, each annual edition has
been digitized and remains accessible on
the FWSA website. The 2023-2024 issue
will also be available on the NSCF website
-www.skifederation.org - which serves 29
country wide Ski Councils with approximately
300,000 members. The Far West
Skier's Guide can also be accessed from
FWSA ski council member websites and
many affiliated club sites.

issues of the Far West Skier's Guide available on our website, which highlights
the many programs of the Far West Ski Association. We offer Snowsports
Leadership Academy modules at the FWSA Annual Convention, and the
" Sips and Snacks " program developed by the Succession Planning Chair, to
exchange best practices and resources for club and council leaders. To date,
" Sips and Snacks " has offered educational sessions on the offices of Secretary,
Treasurer, and Marketing & Sponsorship, with new modules to be offered
on demand. The goal is to prepare more people to seek a leadership position
on the club, council or FWSA level. It provides an opportunity for you to
" give back " to your sport by volunteering in a leadership role. It is by giving
back that you can play your part in sustaining snowsports for future generations.
If
you attend a Far West Ski Association trip this year as a Direct
Member, be sure to ask questions of the many members of clubs that are on
your trip. They can fill you in on the advantages of being a member of a
local ski club, and especially in activities that have not been touched upon
in this article. Your trip leader is also a valuable resource. Or, please contact

The Far West Skier's Guide Subscription for 2024-2025
The Far West Skier's Guide is now Digital Only. However, we do print a limited number
of copies for museums, libraries, snowsports industry, and individuals who would like to
have a printed copy. The subscription has to be paid prior to printing. If you are interested
in receiving a subscription to the 37th Annual Skier's Guide (2024-2025), go to
www.fwsa.org and click into FWSA Store, to purchase online. One or two copies are priced
at $20.00 each (includes shipping). You can also order in multiples of 3 at $15.00 each,
all being mailed to one address. For additional questions, or to send a check rather than
