Throughout the years, the
Far West Ski Association Travel program
has been extremely popular. We have
experienced destinations throughout the
world - within all seven continents.

Torremolinos is a Mediterranean resort town
located on southern Spain's Costa del Sol.

to Sóller. We disembarked and continued our
journey on a tram that slowly weaved its way
through the town until we arrived at the Port
of Sóller. The warm weather was ideal with
small cumulus clouds dotting the blue sky;
shorts and tees were ideal. A tour guide led a
few of us up many stairs to a coastal highpoint
where we had beautiful views of the Mediterranean
Sea and high, steep cliffs. We enjoyed
a generous amount of free time and the marina
where we had a bountiful seafood lunch.
Our bus returned us to the warm and inviting
beachside at the Meliá Palma Bay Hotel and
provided our escape from this mini-Shangri-la.
Saturday was our last day to enjoy the
city of Palma before heading north to Zürich
for our flights home. In the morning, a guide
led us on a walking tour towards La Seu, the
Cathedral of Palma that took three hundred
years to construct. At the city center we encountered
a maze of streets, pathways, and
plazas with shops, gelato cafes, and restaurants
around every corner. There was plenty
of free time for exploring and having lunch before
walking the beachfront back to the hotel.
That afternoon was our Farewell Event. We
talked about the trip, met new acquaintances,
and told tales from the week's excursions
while dining on an antipasto buffet of cheeses,
olives, meats, and Mallorca flatbread. Some
considered this dinner; others ate lightly so
they could go out for their last supper in
Palma. We all thoroughly enjoyed our Costa
del Sol and Mallorca extension. ss

FWSA 2023 12th Annual Scuba Trip
to Little Cayman Was Fantastic!
This year's annual scuba dive trip was to Little Cayman Beach Resort October 7-14, 2023.
It is named a top dive site in the Caribbean for its perfect diving conditions, iconic Bloody Bay
Wall, pristine coral reefs, and spectacular marine life. This wonderful resort is a secluded oceanfront
oasis with a relaxed island ambiance and Caribbean-inspired cuisine.
Our group of 30 thoroughly enjoyed five days of 3-tank boat dives and afternoon boat
dives. Some also enjoyed other water sports and activities. Our Welcome Event and Farewell
Dinner provided fun partying, as is the Far West tradition. ss
Little Cayman is known for its
spectacular marine life. The colors of the
coral are breathtaking, as well as the
wide variety of fish and eels, such as this
Green Moray. Marine turtles are also
found in Cayman's waters.
