Western Region
(NBSWR)

The National Brotherhood
of Skiers is now The National
Brotherhood of Snowsports! The
name change is a monumental
decision to be more inclusive of
all snowsports disciplines. We still
maintain our acronym, The NBS!
The National Brotherhood
of Skiers (NBS), now known as
the National Brotherhood of
Snowsports, was founded in
1973. It comprises over 50 clubs
throughout the United States,
with approximately 3,800 members
throughout its member
clubs. The NBS hosts its Annual
Summit, one of the nation's
largest gatherings of skiers and
snowboarders.
The NBS recently concluded
its 50th Anniversary Summit in
Vail, Colorado, this past February
2023, where over 2000 registered
members and additional snow enthusiasts
gathered for the weeklong
celebration. The Annual
Summit is a fundraiser that supports
the NBS Olympic Scholarship
Fund and its mission to
identify, develop, and support athletes
of color who will compete in
Olympic and international winter
sports competitions, representing
the United States and increasing
participation in winter sports.
The NBS national team currently
has 23 athletes that compete nationally.
There are four regions
within the NBS: the Western,
Rocky Mountain, Midwest, and
Eastern Regions. Each region has
a Vice President and Board of Directors
and reports to the current
NBS President, Henry Rivers.
The National Brotherhood
of Snowsports Western Region
(NBSWR) covers California, Nevada,
Arizona, Oregon, and Washington,
comprising 14 active
member clubs serving their area
communities. We are happy to anSnowBusters

Brotherhood of Snowsports, with over 5,000 members, had 2,100 members attend the week-long celebration,
with great snow for skiing and snowboarding, and what they like to call, " partying with a purpose. "

15th club, Four Seasons Northwest,
in Seattle, Washington, that
has re-applied for membership.
Many of our member clubs have
year-round adult and family activities,
including skiing (Alpine
and Nordic), snowmobiling, bicycling,
hiking, camping, river rafting,
houseboating, and jazz
festivals. " We are focused on the
growth and prosperity of our clubs,
supporting the mission of the NBS
to diversity in Snowsports with passion,
unity, and harmony through

The NBSWR has partnered
with the Far West Ski Association
to increase cultural aware88

ness in snowsports and create
opportunities to educate and expose
member clubs and councils
to diversity, equity, and inclusion
concepts. Members of the
NBSWR actively participate in
the Far West Ski Association
(FWSA) Annual Convention,
and our member clubs are encouraged
to attend.
The National Brotherhood
of Snowsports Western Region is
open to working with other
snowsports organizations in pursuing
initiatives and promoting
diversity and inclusion in winter
sports. We are proud of our work
thus far and look forward to
greater opportunities.
