percent of company systems allow for a
personalized training plan that is user-driven.
The same percentage report their LMS
selected content automatically based on the
user's profile or job role. Slightly over half
(56 percent) have systems that allow users to
select the delivery modality that works best
for learning. Only 28 percent report systems
that select and recommend content based on
past courses and performance.

Metrics and Reporting
Many organizations report challenges in
pulling proper reporting and analytics from
their LMS. Respondents rated how well their
systems met various reporting criteria on a
scale of 1-7, with 1 for "Not Well" and 7 for
"Very Well." (Figure 8)
Scores showed general dissatisfaction and
revealed areas of weakness in data and
analytics, primarily in the ability to access
quick, real-time data for better decisionmaking. Another key element is the ability to
perform web analytics, since many of the
mobile solutions are driven through webbased applications. Web-based usability
tracking and analytics can be especially
beneficial to the training department for
gauging the effectiveness of their learning
solutions.
Respondents were most dissatisfied (2.7) with
the inability of learners to provide direct
feedback through a dedicated rating system
built into the user interface, which would allow
for taking action when necessary.
