ARTS & CRAFTS Visual Arts Committee The Fort Collins Senior Center is looking for people interested in serving on the Visual Arts Committee. If you would like more information about the committee’s mission and duties, contact Steve Dietemann at 970.224.6028 or Teachers? Do you have a special talent and want to share it with others? New proposals for arts and crafts programs are always welcome. If you are a skilled, competent Instructor, contact Steve Dietemann at 970.224.6028 or Volunteers Needed Volunteers are needed to help oversee the operation of a wood shop and general arts and crafts studio. If you are interested in volunteering or even teaching a class, contact Steve Dietemann at 970.224.6028 or Quilting Quorum Novice and expert quilters welcome. Work on group or individual projects. Quilters may also work on charity projects. Meet other local quilters, swap tips, share techniques, and a common interest in quilting. Sewing machines, mats, cutters, and material available. Note: No Instructor, No fee, Senior Center members only Location: Senior Center Ongoing Fri 1:00-3:00 PM ADULT ARTS & CRAFTS 18+ unless Noted Visual Arts & Crafts Show Call for artists and crafters. Artists and crafters who are 50 and older can show their work. Awards will be given to the top three in each category. The show will be open May 1- June 2. Pick up an entry form at the Senior Center registration desk or fill one out when you bring your work for submission. Drop off: Submissions may be delivered to the Senior Center north entrance Friday, April 23, 1:00-5:00 PM and Saturday April 24, 9:00 AM-Noon. Reception for artists and public: Saturday, May 1 from 4:00 PM6:00 PM. Display: Arts and crafts will be displayed May 1-June 2, Monday–Friday 6:00 AM-9:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM–9:00 PM. Pick up: Art will be returned to the artists Friday June 4, 1:00-5:00 PM and Saturday June 5, 9:00 AM-Noon. C.H.A.T. (Crafts Hobbies Arts Time) Interested in cropping for scrapbooks, crochet, watercolor, knitting, or some other hobby? Join an open relaxed atmosphere where you can meet new friends and share your enthusiasm for creativity. This group meets weekly to work on projects and share ideas. Learn from others as you discuss the many aspects of art. Note: No Instructor, No fee, Senior Center members only Location: Senior Center Ongoing Wed 1:00-3:00 PM Open Shop Open shop offers an opportunity for people to work on projects. There are many tools available for media such as jewelry, stained glass, and woodworking. Also available are scroll saws, wood lathes, other wood related tools and basic tools for mechanical repairs. You supply the materials and the expendable resources such as sand paper, glue etc. Students enrolled in a class can utilize the shop to work on projects outside their class time. A shop attendant is on duty to assist with questions. Production work or work on items for sale is not permitted. Note: There is no fee for students currently enrolled in an arts and crafts class; for persons not currently enrolled in a class, a Senior Center membership is required and a $2.00 fee per open lab time is charged. This class is open to people of all abilities, with emphasis on accommodations for various challenges and disabilities. Participation in an art show this spring is optional. This basket has a wonderful decoration of curls on the sides and is perfect for a centerpiece or for serving food. Class partially discountable. 3/27 Sa 9:00 AM-6:00 PM $71 14103-01 Simplicity Basket This particular basket has a 8” diameter and is 13” high to the handle. This basket uses ¼ “ flat oval reed to create clean classic lines. It has a wrapped handle to add a wonderful elegant touch. Class partially discountable. 4/24 Sa 9:00 AM-6:00 PM $71 14104-01 FIBER ARTS Beginning Sewing Prerequisite: Must be familiar with your sewing machine and able to sew a straight seam Make a fleece vest just in time for the cool early spring days. You will learn how to read a pattern, cut the material and size the project. Also learn how to set a zipper and finish the edges. Age: 14 years & up Instructor: Diana Hotchkiss Location: Senior Center Note: Supply list provided at registration. (Approximate cost $15$25.)
