Recreator - Fall 2012 - (Page 5)

FROM THE RECREATION DIRECTOR City of Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Board Ragan Adams Richard Barnhart Rob Cagen Brain Carroll Michael Chalona Todd Galbate Bruce Henderson Susan Kelly Dawn Theis Kelly Ohlson - City Council Representative Executive Director Community Services Marty Heffernan Fellow Recreators, It is hard to believe it is Fall again and that I am celebrating my one-year anniversary with the City of Fort Collins. Pretty soon we will see the changes to mark this time of year: leaves changing, kids going back to school, and a chill to the air. The changes will carry over to the Recreation Department as well. In the Winter 2012/2013 Recreator you will notice changes to our membership fees. In addition, Recreator introduces our new partnership with Healthways SilverSneakers. See page 16 for more details about this great program. The Recreator has many activities and programs for you and your kids to fit into your schedule. We offer after school and weekend activities to help you stay busy and active with the changing weather. From arts, crafts and pottery to sports and even baton twirling, there is something for everyone in these pages. Get out and try something new, pick up ice skating or try an aqua fitness class, or just get a SuperPass and utilize a community center near you. Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events. We have many great evenings and weekends planned. To name a few: The Father’s Day 5k (rescheduled from June), Cemetery Stroll, Pooch Plunge, the Sundance Festival (and Chili Cook-off) as well as an entire series about local Native American culture. The Events section begins on page 10. As always, feel free to contact me if you have something on your mind. I encourage the opportunity to get to know you better! Happy recreating!
