LEGENDS OF
TOMORROW

RHER O

DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW HAS BEEN ON A JOURNEY of evolution as the characters do
their best to make repairs to aberrations in the timeline. "Season 1 was saving the world from an
immortal madman," points out executive producer-showrunner Phil Klemmer. "Season 3 begins
with our guys threatened with the dissolution of their team and that's a serious threat, because
it's, like, 'I don't know if I have a life to go back to; I don't know who I was before this existed.' We've
given ourselves license to just have fun, and it's incredible what we can get away with."Embracing
humor has become an important part of the show, with actor Nick Zano (Nate Heywood/Steel)
commenting, "You'll see this season, we're not afraid to be funny. It's like the era of Chris Nolan

superheroes is giving way to the Deadpool
era. And the fact that we're kind of
the Bad News Bears of superheroes is
appealing to people."
"The comedy is everything for me,"
enthuses Victor Garber (Martin Stein/
Firestorm). "I love that more than
anything, because that's what I grew up
doing in my life in the theater."
Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The
Atom) points out, "Our show is not
heavy on the drama, because there's not
enough time for a lot of drama. It's action,
fast-paced, and if you can make that fastpaced action fun and funny as well, I think
that's what people are responding to."
"The whole thing is weird for me,"
shrugs Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/White
Canary), "because I've never been a
comedian. I'm very much a drama actor.
I like dark, and that's who Sara was. Now
all of a sudden I find myself saying, 'I'm in
a comedy.' But it's now one of my favorite
things about the show, because it doesn't
take itself so seriously. It's finding that
fine line of being the straight man and
also bringing your own comedy to it. It's a
different beast."
