AVENGERS:
ENDGAME
(MARVEL/
DI SNEY)

The MCU Phase
Three comes
to a smashing
conclusion with
a satisfying
superhero
blockbuster which,
to steal a phrase
from the halcyon
days of MGM,
boasts more stars
(and superheroes)
than there are in
heaven. This loaded UHD disc features a sharp 4K hi-def transfer and
muscular sound that you can load and watch in a snap.

APOCALYPSE NOW: THE FINAL CUT
WHAT WE LEFT BEHIND:
LOOKING BACK AT STAR
TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE

( L I ON SGAT E )

Francis Ford Coppola's masterpiece gets the ultra-HD treatment
and it was worth the wait. Along with the original theatrical cut,
Apocalypse Now Redux and the new Final Cut in 4K combining the
best of all versions,
it also includes the
brilliant Heart of
Darkness doc about
the turbulent making
of the film. This is the
stuff reference discs
are made of. Lionsgate
gets it right with this
stunning addition to
the UHD marketplace,
which sets a new
benchmark for classic
titles on the format.

(SHOUT! FACTORY)

The unjustly overlooked
Deep Space Nine finally gets
its due in this documentary
from showrunner Ira Steven
Behr. Although at times
it veers too much into fan
service (e.g., the opening
musical number) rather
than actually telling the real
story of why this fantastic
Trek series is often dismissed
by fans, there are a
bountiful array of special features and a wonderful look inside a fantasy
writers room for a mythical season 8 that make it more than worth the
price of admission.

CAPTAIN MARVEL

WEIRD SCIENCE

(M A RVE L / D I S N E Y )

(AR ROW R ELEASI NG)

Captain Marvel finally comes to
the MCU in this diverting and fun
precursor to Endgame anchored by a
charming star turn by Brie Larson as
the titular heroine. Although special
features aren't extensive, the disc
itself looks and sounds absolutely
marvel-ous as it reminds you of why
we love the '90s.

Although it's not top-tier John Hughes,
Arrow Releasing gives Weird Science a
welcome steelbook release, which is an
appealing double-dip for fans of this
movie. While the film is not as beloved as
The Breakfast Club or Pretty In Pink, the
effervescent Kelly LeBrock and an amusing
turn by Bill Paxton make this a welcome upgrade from the bare-bones
original Universal release.
