Cassian Andor & K2-SO

Last year, Rogue One brought us
a slew of new characters. Though
some of them were more or less
one note, Diego Luna's turn as
the Rebel intelligence operative
Cassian Andor stood out. When we
meet him on the Ring of Kafrene,
we quickly see that he's willing to
do whatever it takes to acquire
desperately needed intel for the
Rebellion - except for killing Jyn
Erso's dad. It would be interesting
to see more of the morally questionable decisions that led him to
spearhead the rogue operation to
Scarif.
A film featuring Cassian and his
cantankerous droid companion
K2-SO could be a brilliant way for
Lucasfilm and Disney to further
explore the early days of the
Rebellion in a gritty way. The film
could simply set the two of them
traveling to various seedy locales
to obtain information the Rebellion
needs. Plus, who doesn't want to
see more of K2-SO?

THE STAR WARS
SPIN-OFFS WE
WANT TO SEE

SINCE DISNEY ACQUIRED LUCASFILM AND THE STAR WARS FRANCHISE, EVERY YEAR IS
NOW A STAR WARS YEAR. Beginning with The Force Awakens, Star Wars VII-IX continue the
saga of the Skywalker family, but Rogue One opened the door for Star Wars spin-offs that
have nothing to do with Luke and Leia. So here are our suggestions for the non-Skywalker
stories that will get fans standing in line.

Lost Stars

Claudia Gray's young adult novel Lost Stars
focuses on two childhood friends, Thane
Kyrell and Ciena Ree, who eventually find
themselves on opposite sides of the Galactic
Civil War. This sort of split narrative would
allow for a
unique movie
that focuses
equally on the
Imperials and
the Rebels.
In addition to
Thane and
Ciena, the
novel also
features an
interesting
cast of
supporting characters and allows for cameos
from characters already well established in
the universe.
The novel ends with the Battle of Jakku,
and even specifically tells us how the Star
Destroyer that we see Rey speed past in TFA
was brought down, which would make for an
amazing climax on the big screen.

Doctor Aphra

One of the most interesting and
most popular new characters
introduced to the Star Wars canon
is Doctor Aphra. Originally created
by Kieron Gillen for the Darth Vader
comic, Doctor Aphra has become
a fan favorite and is now starring
in her own comic, also written by
Gillen. As awesome as the comics
are, it would be fantastic to see her
make the leap to the big screen.
She's an archaeologist, so imagine
an Indiana Jones-esque movie
set in the Star Wars universe. This
would allow Disney and Lucasfilm
to delve
hundreds
if not
thousands of
years into the
past without
actually
setting a story
within The
Old Republic
timeframe.

A Yoda Story

Though he's had a heavy
influence on the events of Star
Wars, we know very little about
Yoda. After all, by the time he
meets
Luke
in The
Empire
Strikes
Back, he
is already
over 900 years old. We've always
known him as the wise old Jedi
Master, even in the prequel trilogy
- which is why Yoda is the perfect
candidate for a spin-off prequel.
Wouldn't it be amazing to see
Yoda in his prime as a Knight
of the Jedi order?Also, because
Yoda's species live such long lives,
Lucasfilm and Disney could set a
Yoda movie hundreds of years prior
to the events of the prequel trilogy,
shedding some light on a period
that is unexplored in the current
canon.
