Debuting March 31 at Stone Mountain Park is their latest attraction— Geyser Towers—featuring multiple levels of suspended rope bridges and net tunnels connecting visitors to towering platforms that overlook a gushing geyser that helps cool visitors with splashes of water. Water for this nearly $1 million project flows through a closed-loop treatment system and is supplied by the Stone Mountain Lake. • The search is on. Southern soft drink Cheerwine is searching for a new cola ambassador as part of its Miss Cheerwine contest. For the third year in a row, Mountain City was chosen again as one of the U.S. host cities for the Warrior Dash, an extreme obstacle race where participants leap fire, crawl through mud and traverse challenging, rugged terrain. This single weekend event, May 19-20, is set to attract more than 30,000 people, filling area hotel rooms at an off time of year, and providing more than $1 million in tourism dollars for the community, according to Rabun County Convention and Visitors Bureau officials. GEORGIA MAGAZINE Risa Rae Ramji and Samantha Strum Brown, of Johns Creek, have set out to bring the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day to children far and wide with their interactive tale “Lucky the Leprechaun.” Using rhyming prose and colorful illustrations, Lucky teaches children to be kind to all and listen to those around them. Printed and packaged locally, the book comes complete with a box, felt, shamrocks, gold coins and an assortment of pipe cleaners—all of the materials needed to build and decorate your very own leprechaun trap. Also included is an audio CD featuring activities, worksheets and audio of the book. Both Ramji and Brown say that what sets their book apart from other children’s reads is its interactive component, which allows children to use their imagination, crafting skills and creative license. Lucky will be making his way around Georgia this month, including storytime and crafts events held by the Fulton County Library System, Fulton County Schools, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Named for the 1787 date when the U.S. Constitution was signed, the contest is open to students in kindergarten through college. Students are encouraged to submit speeches, songs, films and other creative works addressing a variety of topics relating to the Constitution.
