This precious gift keeps giving, and we should share it every chance we have. And since all of our talents are gifts, some that enable us to make a living and are unique to each person, be generous with your fellow man. Monetary gifts are usually always appreciated—especially in this economy, when so many nonprofits are struggling—but many of us have limits. If you have time to donate, help deserving organizations in your community. Maybe your talent is a skill that could help someone in need. In today’s world, even a smile or a “thank you” can be a gift. To experience an authentic ancient Christmas as it may have been in the Holy Land during biblical times, take a trip back in time and visit the Explorations in Antiquity Center in LaGrange. It may help you appreciate the freedoms and luxuries you now have. See story, page 16. For a shorter trip back in time, drop by an old barbershop; there’s likely one in your town. Besides cutting hair, these shops are where stories are told and histories handed down. I recall spending many youthful hours watching my grandfather, “Pop” Staples, cut hair and tell stories.
