WASHINGTON-WILKES TOURISM

fficials are predicting snow in downtown Washington on Nov. 21 with the
annual Snow on the Square holiday
event.
"It's the official beginning of the
holiday season with fun for the whole
family," says John Singleton, director of
tourism for Washington-Wilkes County.
The downtown square will sparkle
under a canopy of lights, and multiple
snow machines will fill the air with
snowflakes on Nov. 21 and other designated dates throughout the holiday
season.
Washington Mayor Ames Barnett will
light the 30-foot live tree that's decorated
with ornaments made by area schoolchildren. Caroling by local church groups,
candlelight shopping and a handbell choir performance will
set the stage for a first taste of winter.
