Colorful, whimsical art brightens museum in Albany

anciful, immersive creations by Athens artist and
musician Elinor Saragoussi fill one of four galleries at the
Albany Museum of Art in January and February.
" Called Escape Plan, the exhibition of colorful creatures
was designed specifically for the museum, " says Jim Hendricks,
director of marketing and public relations. " She spent several
days measuring the gallery before creating these otherworldly
images. "
The artist says that real life has influenced her creations.
" The creatures' hoods were inspired by my mother's recent
brain surgery, " she says. " Escape Plan is yet another attempt for

me to realize the fantasy I yearn to inhabit. "
The exhibit includes an original ambient soundtrack
composed by Saragoussi's musical partner, Max Boyd.
Exhibitions in the other galleries include On the Wall,
which brings together the works of four muralists and painter Sarah Emerson; Midlands, which showcases video artwork by
Courtney McClellan; and the Georgia Artists Guild of Albany
Show, which features regional artists.
