'Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta' star Lori Allen refuses to slow down

hen Lori Allen,
owner of Bridals
by Lori and star of
TLC's " Say Yes to the
Dress: Atlanta, " celebrated
her 60th birthday in 2019,
she enjoyed the moment.
But shortly after the birthday
candles went out and the
cake was gone, she was taken
aback by questions about
whether she was going to
retire.
" I was flabbergasted, "
Allen says. " Then it made me
mad, because I don't think you would ask a man that. And with
my turning 60, why would anyone automatically expect me to
retire? I have a lot of life to live yet. "
Allen rose to national prominence following the 2010
premiere of " Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, " the sister show to
TLC's popular " Say Yes to the Dress. " TLC wanted to expand

the show franchise and heard
Bridals by Lori was a wellknown bridal salon not only
in Atlanta but also throughout the South. NorthSouth
Productions called Allen to
see if she was interested. She
said, " Yes! "
It took Allen, co-star and fashion director Monte Durham,
and the store's staff a while to get into the rhythm of filming a
TV show.
" Filming is hard work, " Allen says with a laugh. " We are a
well-oiled machine now. "
