visits, school and home-school field trips,
and church groups. It also attracts
visitors from throughout the United
States because of its affiliation with the
Association of Children's Museums,
which offers 50 percent off admission to
members of other association museums.
The museum exhibits include
GrandPappy Airlines, which features
a full-size 1955 Aero Commander 560
aircraft. A Hall County sheriff's car-
complete with lights and sirens-and a
1927 American LaFrance firetruck also
provide life-size adventures.
In INK's farm, created through a
partnership with the Southeast Dairy
Association, children can milk Buttercup,
a simulated dairy cow, and learn about
chickens from Haylee the talking hen.
Other exhibits teach children about
real-life jobs in restaurants, on stage or as
postal workers, beauticians, radiologists
or doctors.
In 2018, a small fire activated the
sprinkler system in the pottery studio and
filled parts of the museum with several
inches of water. The flood destroyed
much of the exhibits, and it took nearly
eight months to clean up the building,
rebuild exhibits and play equipment,
and get the museum ready for spring
field trips.

" We've come back stronger than
ever, " Volpe says. " The first year after
the flood we were so excited because
we broke all attendance records. Then
the pandemic hit. Although we're still
operating under COVID protocols, we
look forward to what the next few years
hold for us. "
