" Afterward, Grace was allowed to cheer with her peers on the sidelines, but [the incident] brought to light the exclusionary practices that so many people with Down syndrome and other disabilities face each and every day, " Carrie Key says. " During that difficult time, I had the idea for a business that combined her art, fashion and her desire to lift up others and fight for equality. I pitched the idea to Grace that evening, and she loved it instantly. " Grace Key always had expressed herself through her bright, bold and cheerful artwork. Local art teacher Robin Proffitt helped Grace craft her first design. The Grace Key displays some of the designs she has transformed into T-shirts, bags and other items.
