ORAl SuRgeRY wORkShOP fOR The geNeRAl PRAcTiTiONeR
Step-by-step techniques to broaden your scope of practice and make
oral surgery more enjoyable are performed on fresh pig mandibles.
Each exercise is preceded by an AV presentation to outline the procedures and introduce the required instruments. Next, the clinician
demonstrates the procedure in front of you. Each attendee then performs the surgical procedure on his or her own pig mandible. Learn to
perform a frenectomy, biopsy, flap techniques and I&D. Learn about
suturing techniques as you work. Proper use of the cowhorn and ash
forceps is demonstrated as you extract teeth, as well as, the use of a
rongeur when doing alveoplasties and root removals.

This program includes the option of an assignment, as
is done in AGD “protocol” courses in the “MasterTrack”
program, presented by the attendee at the 2014 GNYDM. Those who choose this option will be eligible for
additional MCE “participation” credit recorded through their state
AGD office for a fee.

Those who attended last year’s “Treating Medical Emergencies in
the Dental Office” and/or “Oral Surgery Workshop” with Dr. Robert
Edwab and/or “Orthodontic Essentials for the General Practitioner:
Learn it Today, Do it Tomorrow” with Dr. Elliott M. Moskowitz and
Dr. Laurance Jerrold and/or “Simplified Endodontic Instrumentation Workshop” with Dr. Barry Musikant are invited to make formal case presentations and receive participation credit toward AGD
Fellowship or AGD Mastership status, on the MasterTrack protocol
basis, recorded for a fee through NYSAGD. The presentation itself
should document and discuss the treatment of a patient from the
participant’s own practice. Attention should be given to history, diagnosis, treatment options, case progress and outcome. Additional
information may be obtained by contacting the NYSAGD.
