NAVIGATING THE WORLD OF CLEAR ALIGNERS

CONDYLAR RESORPTION AND ARTHROSIS OF THE JOINTS

In recent years, clear aligner options have become vast and somewhat
confusing. In order for the practitioner to provide the best care to patients,
one needs to consider the diﬀerences between commercially available and
in-oﬃce options along with various factors that might aﬀect tooth movement. This seminar reviews the diﬀerent clear aligner products on the
market highlighting diﬀerences that may be important in deciding which
product would be best for treatment in your practice. Finally, current products now on the market designed to facilitate tooth movement are discussed
on how they aﬀect tooth movement with aligners.

Condylar resorption and arthroses of the joint is a handicapping pathology that may lead to total joint replacement. The process often begins
during adolescence and may be misdiagnosed. The treatment plan should
be adapted to the underlying condition. Case reports of total joint replacements are shown using a costochondral graft.

3D IMAGING IN CONTEMPORARY ORTHODONTICS
As 3D imaging has become readily available in dentistry, debate has taken
place regarding its proper place in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment
planning. This advanced imaging only has value if it provides additional
information beyond what is obtained from traditional cephalometric and
panoramic images. This presentation demonstrates techniques for adding
significant diagnostic information from advanced 3D imaging and reinforces the use of those techniques through case presentations.

PATIENTS WITH CLEFT LIP AND PALATE CLP
The management of patients with cleft lip and cleft palate requires extended
orthodontic treatment and an interdisciplinary approach in providing these
patients with optimal esthetics, function and stability. Orthodontic or orthopedic management in infancy, in primary, mixed and permanent dentition
and after the completion of facial growth are discussed. The focus of this
presentation is on current concepts in the interdisciplinary approach to
treatment planning and treatment sequencing during each phase of orthodontic treatment.

3D GUIDED APPROACH TO MANAGEMENT
OF THE MAXILLARY IMPACTED CANINES
Patients with impacted maxillary canines present with significant variations that require a team approach by an orthodontist and a periodontist.
Historically, impacted canines were diagnosed with the aid of two-dimensional images and clinical exam. Today 3D cone-beam imaging technology
oﬀers accuracy in diagnosis of the impacted teeth and serves as a valuable communication tool between the orthodontist and the periodontist.
Utilizing 3D CBCT imaging a comprehensive 3D Guided Classification of the
maxillary canine impactions are proposed, integrating the diagnosis with
surgical and orthodontic management. This hands-on workshop demonstrates Temporary Anchorage placement for management of the impacted
maxillary canines.
