IMPLANT COMPLICATIONS AND THEIR SURGICAL
MANAGEMENT PREVENTION AND CORRECTION
Dental implant treatment has become one of the most innovative physiologic reconstructive techniques in modern dentistry. Its
goal is to replace failing and missing teeth with osseointegrated
dental implants that would behave in a similar fashion as healthy
natural teeth. At the same time, this amazing surgical-restorative
dental treatment has a variety of risks that include lack of integration, loss of integration or implant failure, implant-related
infection due to peri-implantitis, inability to restore an integrated

SINUS BONE AUGMENTATION
A key to implant success is the quantity and quality of the bone
where the implant is to be placed. The maxillary posterior has
traditionally been one of the most difficult areas to successfully place dental implants due to insufficient bone quantity and
quality and the close proximity to the sinus. Sinus lift surgery can
help correct this problem by raising the sinus floor and developing bone for the placement of dental implants. Several techniques
can be used to raise the sinus and allow for new bone to form.
During this hands-on workshop, the clinician discusses the indications and step-by-step surgical protocols for performing sinus
bone augmentation through the osteotomy site as well as through
the lateral window.
