THE PARKER WOMEN

Nurturing Goleta
for generations in
medicine and business

Town developer. Today, Parker remains only the buildings'
second owner.
Many of its unostentatious mom-and-pop stores,
like  Goleta  Bakery and  Goleta  Jewelers, are family-run
and many decades old. They have loyal customers in their
residential neighbors.
Like her parents,  Pallad  and her husband, Ted, are
involved in a variety of local organizations. Whereas the
Parkers had the  Goleta  Lions Club  and church activities,
the Pallads founded Santa Barbara Friday Night Lights -
the local branch of a youth flag football nonprofit - and
are heavily involved in their four kids' schools: Foothill,
La Colina and San Marcos.

After years in Los Angeles for college and
work,  Pallad  returned to her hometown two years ago.
"After having our children, my husband and I just decided
it was time to have a change of lifestyle and get out of the
chaos of Los Angeles and live in a smaller community,"
she said.
"What I think is so great about this area is that you can do
so many things within a day, as opposed to living in Los
Angeles, where it takes a day to get anywhere."

"We just love the smaller community, the school district
and how involved the families are," she said.
