Brighten has done several
custom residential projects,
but most notably in Goleta
are their installs at Santa
Barbara Airbus and Deckers
Brands.

Schumann's voice as she describes the benefits of going
solar. Leaving a lasting impact on the environment drives
her to run their small business every day. A native of France,
Marine and her husband, Jeremy, had both studied in the
states and were eager to come back.
A job opportunity in Lompoc brought them back to the area
in 2013 and they quickly noticed Santa Barbara and Goleta
were behind the curve in renewable energy. After talking
with architects, builders and home owners, they realized
education about the benefits, cost and tax incentives were
missing. They also saw that our area needed a more customized approach to solar.
With a background in sustainability and engineering, the
fierce duo set out to launch their own solar company,
Brighten Solar.
Today, Brighten Solar assists in the design, project management, and installation of aesthetically appealing solar
solutions for both residential and commercial properties.
They work with property owners to integrate smarter solar
technologies that fit  customers design preferences, are
pleasing to the eye, and benefit the environment as well as
the pocketbook.
In 2015, Santa Barbara Airbus wanted to make an investment to reduce their carbon footprint and had 134 solar
panels and four solar inverters installed. The system generates 75% of their electric needs.

In early 2018, nearly 1,200 solar photovoltaic panels were
installed on three of Deckers Brands buildings to offset
about one third of the campus's electrical consumption.
"Commercial buildings use about a third of the total electricity consumed in the U.S., so a company like Deckers
going solar is a huge win for our environment," explained
Jeremy Favier, Co-Founder and COO of Brighten Solar.
"Deckers is setting an example of leadership in sustainability, and they should be proud."
Deckers Brands and Brighten Solar also launched a
Corporate Solar Program for employees to help motivate
Deckers employees to install solar on their homes.  Both
projects for prominent Goleta businesses make a significant impact on the Goleta community, and according to
Schumann, this is just the start.
Schumann sees a lot of potential for solar in the coming
years. The technology continues to get stronger and awareness and education of the benefits are growing. Both of
Goleta's newest housing projects have been built solar and
California recently approved a proposal requiring solar panels on all new homes beginning in 2020.
Brighten Solar has built a great team of well-educated
engineers and technical staff. They take pride in their
growing team-Schumann quips, "We hire bright people!"
When asked what her favorite part about this business is,
Schumann quickly responded "I love turning on a system
with our customer-we have a little ceremony and they feel
so inspired and proud, that is the way it should be!"
