grand finale My sunshine She used to hold my hand, And teach me how to sing. Whenever we stopped by her house, She always used to say— “I love you, dear”— She meant it every day. She taught me a song, She sang it all the time. “You are my sunshine,” was my favorite line. We used to go for lunch, A diner, on Sundays. I always ordered matzah ball soup. She used to laugh and say To the waiter what I wanted And she got it right every time. I used to smile and felt Like her special sunshine. I was hers and she was mine, I went with her everywhere. The mall, the park, My house after dark, It didn’t matter… Tucked away in her purse, For any time we met, She had a Hershey Kiss— It was her way of kissing me.
