Click the above button for this ABCNews. com video. 20 GRAND By MaRy ann COOPER fter Barack Obama was elected president of the United States, he was asked who the “unsung hero” of his successful campaign was. The president-elect didn’t hesitate. He told 60 Minutes it was his motherin-law, Marian Robinson. “We couldn’t have done it without her.” Future First Lady Michelle Obama echoed that sentiment earlier on the campaign trail when she told an Ohio rally, “I am standing here breathing in and out with any level of calm because my mother is home with my girls. There’s nothing like grandma.” President Obama has even gone further in describing how crucial Marian Robinson’s support was for his campaign. He hinted back in March 2008 that he might not even be a candidate if it were not for the soon-to-be “First Grandmother.” “I’m not sure we could do it [without her]. I’m not sure Michelle would have felt comfortable with it, and I probably would have agreed with her.” MAY JUNE 2010http://photos.essence.com/galleries/may_essence_issue_first_lady_michelle_obama__mom http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/01/obamas-mother-i.html http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/01/obamas-mother-i.html http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Inauguration/story?id=6703161&page=1
