Mentor a Grad, Change the World A re you a current or retired professional? Share your knowledge and experience with a young college graduate who wants to get started in the workplace. Mentors can provide young people with some of the following: career guidance; suggestions on training and credentialing; help with resumes and networking; career shadowing experiences; and helping them get a foot in the door. Why is this so important? For grads who don't have connections or access to networks through their families- especially poor and first-generation grads--the playing field is not level. You can give young people an equal opportunity to compete for jobs for which they're qualified. By giving them a realistic view of what your field is like, you can help them decide whether they're suited for it. And by helping the younger generation, you will be preparing them (and our country) to confront the challenges of a global economy. Grad Life Choices is a volunteer network of people who care. The program matches unemployed or underemployed graduates with credentialed life and career coaches and with mentors who have realworld experience. You have the potential to change a grad's life and create a ripple effect of kindness spreading outward in unforeseen ways. This process not only provided me with knowledge about possible career paths-- where I want to be in life and how I could get there-- but it gave me a great boost of inspiration, confidence and self-worth. I can honestly say that I'm a better and happier human being as a result. Nick W. This program is a life saver! Kamilah J.
