Give a GRAND Gift First-Year Milestones BY CHERYL HARBOUR One of the best parts about being a GRAND is watching the growth and development of this new little being. Literally, a milestone is a stone by the side of the road that marks the distance in miles to a particular place. But with babies, milestones are much less exact. Accomplishments don't always happen on time and experts suggest you just use milestones as broad guidelines. 0-3 MONTHS * Lifting head briefly when on tummy * Holding head steady when upright * Focusing on a face * Cooing, squealing, laughing * Reacting to a sound, begin to turn in that direction * Beginning to reach for an object and trying to grasp it * Bringing hands together * Smiling, usually randomly Babies this age love...
