DESCRIPTION: H2B2's Modular 3 MW PEM electrolyzers are designed to fit within
two standard 40-ft maritime containers for easy handling and transport and follow a
plug-and-play approach for easy and quick onsite installation. H2B2's arrangement
optimizes design from a safety perspective (differentiating process and support
areas), minimizing bulkiness and costs commonly associated to ATEX characterization.
H2B2's electrolyzers are certified and developed according to European or
American (depending on location) codes and standards. H2B2 supplies electrolyzers
with a CE marking and, if necessary, an ETL stamp, as well as required safety studies
(HAZOP by default).
3 MW HYDROGEN GENERATION ROOM COMPONENTS AND PROCESS
DESCRIPTION:
* Stacks [1]: The unit comprises of three stacks based on PEM technology
where electricity and water enter the system and water is split into
hydrogen and oxygen molecules
* Pumps [2,6]: Pumps are used to boost the deionized water that is fed to the
stack, and to line up with the deionization resins [7], which guarantee the
purity of the water.
* Oxygen separator [3]: Produced oxygen is a biphasic stream (O2 + H2O),
where oxygen in the gas phase, steam and traces of hydrogen, as well as
a large amount of liquid water, coexist. This equipment recovers the
liquid water. The recovered water is fed again to the stack in a closed loop
(minimizing water consumption).
* Hydrogen separator [4]: Produced hydrogen is also a biphasic stream (H2 +
H2O), where steam, hydrogen and traces of oxygen (in gas phase) and liquid
water coexist. Because of this, and due to the hydrogen purity required by
downstream applications, this equipment separates water from hydrogen.
* Hydrogen purification system [9]: This final stage is only included (as an
option) if the hydrogen purity needed is higher than 99.9%. Equipment
involved are the following:
° Deoxo: Some oxygen traces can be found in the hydrogen stream at the
stack outlet, which are removed in this catalytic recombiner
° Dryer: Downstream of the deoxo, there is a dryer to remove the moisture
of the hydrogen stream. There are two dryers available. These guarantee
the continuous functioning of the electrolyzer when one of them is being
regenerated after its saturation (so that no maintenance stop is needed).
* Cooling system: The electrolyzer includes a cooling system where no cooling
water is required and it consists of:
° Chiller [5,11]: Heat exchanger to cool down the hydrogen product
before its final purification stage.
° Air coolers [10]: To remove the heat produced in the electrolysis process.
