to a minimum. Increasing fluid velocities increase heat transfer
and pressure drop and lower the purchase price but increase
pumping power requirements. What is optimum? This article
provides equations and nomographs that consider physical
properties of the fluid, purchase price of the exchanger, working
hours, power costs, etc., to find the optimum pressure drop
for a particular exchanger.
