beneath the Kansas River. This 16-inch, ductile iron
main represented a high-priority asset due to its age
and function. Concern was that a partial collapse of
the buried pipeline, leakage, blockages or internal
build-up had occurred. Before an internal inspection tool could be launched, a 120-psi water jetter
nozzle with blades was used to cut and spray out the
sediment that had solidified in the main. Additional
cleaning of key portions was still necessary after the
initial work.

As a partner in the Region "C" State water planning team, Euless, TX, leadership understands the
challenges of regional water supply and demand.
Employing a proactive approach to water shortages
in north Texas, the city prepared a conservation plan
using water from the Fort Worth Village Creek Water
Reclamation Facility. The Euless Reclaimed Water
System includes a storage pond, pump station, and
distribution system of 12-inch and smaller pipelines.
This presentation will cover the overall history and
expansion of the system, and review several design
constraints and various technologies used for this
project.

IDIQ Contract Success In
Corpus Christi Water System

The city of Corpus Christi, TX, implemented a unique
methodology to rehabilitate and revitalize its water
system - an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity
(IDIQ) contract that facilitated improvements at a
program level. This presentation will focus on three
of the projects installed as part of this IDIQ contract,
where an open trench was not an option. Trenchless
methods, including HDD and pipe bursting, made
it possible to span the channels within the Corpus
Christi marina, cross the heavily trafficked Texas State
Highway 358, and rehabilitate approximately 3,700
feet of 4- and 6-inch cast iron lines running through
residential backyards, with minimal impact.

Regional Approach To Expand Water System
In North Dakota

North Dakota is building infrastructure in the
northwest to meet growth trends. The Western Area
Water Supply Association (WAWSA) was enacted by
the state legislature to ensure a cohesive approach
to this expansion, with the goal of providing water
to five counties: Burke, Divide, McKenzie, Mountrail
and Williams. Construction is funded in large part by
selling excess water to the energy industry, which
prompted the area's development. This presentation
will discuss the multitude of installation methods,
both open trench and trenchless, as well as pipe
materials used to expand the water infrastructure for
the growing population.

The AWWA M28 sub-committee on Structural Classifications has developed a suggested protocol to

align structural lining with rehabilitation systems. The
approach associates the various types of deterioration problems to specific rehabilitation products,
and outlines testing regimens that quantitatively
define each unique classification. Also, an industryconsensus overview on the design of structural
lining systems is based on the concept of rationally
matching the approach to the product, its limit
states, interaction with the host pipe, and the overall
rehabilitation objective. This session provides an
overview of the Structural Classifications white paper
and its roadmap for further Standards and Manual of
Practice development.
