like the Pipeline Assessment & Certification Program (PACP)
Recertification Course.
PACP is the North American Standard for pipeline defect
identification and assessment, providing standardization and
consistency to the methods in which pipeline conditions are
identified, evaluated and managed. The goal of PACP is to have
pipeline system owners create a comprehensive database to
properly identify, plan, prioritize, manage and renovate their
pipelines based on condition evaluation.
The PACP Recertification Course will recertify your current
PACP certification. The class includes one day of training
and the latest version of the manual. The cost to attend is
$400. Registration for this course is subject to approval.

Also on Monday, is the I&I ElimiNATION workshop.
Virtually every sewer system has some infiltration and/or inflow
(I&I), which is excess water that flows into sewer pipes from
groundwater and stormwater. Groundwater (infiltration) seeps
into sewer pipes through holes, cracks, joint failures, and faulty
connections. Stormwater (inflow) rapidly flows into sewers
via roof drain downspouts, foundation drains, storm drain
cross-connections, and through holes in manhole covers.
Historically, small amounts of I&I are expected and tolerated.
However, I&I is considered excessive when it is the cause of
overflows or bypasses, or if the cost to transport and treat it
exceeds the cost to eliminate it. In this afternoon workshop,

causes and consequences of I&I will be examined, and corrective
actions will be presented.
Find out what is working in I&I and why, from an asset
owner. Get tips on being proactive from a consultant.
Hear about the cost and consequences from a state regulator's
perspective and an engineer will present the design and value
of implementing a plan. Corrective actions will be discussed
in a non-competitive format.
The I&I ElimiNATION workshop is sponsored by Avanti
International, Cretex Specialty Products, Madewell Products
Corporation and Michels Corporation. The cost to attend

The main UCT program runs Tuesday, Jan. 26-Thursday,
Jan. 28. It includes detailed case histories, engaging panel
discussions and interactive presentations. Here's a glimpse
at the critical infrastructure topics that will be available to you:
* Horizontal directional drilling
* Sewer and water
* Manhole rehabilitation
* Accreditation class for Engineering Ethics
Rounding out the program is a new component exclusively for
the natural gas industry - the UtiliTech Conference (UtiliTech).
Presented by Underground Construction and Gas Utility,
UtiliTech is an interactive forum to learn about emerging and
enhanced technologies, share operational perspectives and
explore issues impacting the gas utility market. A dedicated
education track on Tuesday and Wednesday will focus on
high-tech solutions and information for natural gas utility
management, operations, and supervisory personnel.
