9:00-9:55 a.m.
Gas Pipeline Damage & Soil Gas Migration
Speaker: David Heldenbrand, Bison Engineering
Inc.
Learn what first responders should know about
soil gas migration from a gas leak. through
case histories and details about conditions that
actually exist.
10:00-10:25 a.m.
Excess Flow Valves: Sizing Fittings & Valves
Speaker: Richard St. Aubin, P.Eng., IPEX
Given that excess flow valves are mandated
by PHMSA for residences and businesses with

Minimally Invasive Methods for Installing
Sewer Service Cleanout with Same-Day
Restoration
Speaker: Larry Kiest, LMK Pipe Renewal
This presentation discusses techniques and
industry standards for new, minimally invasive
methods to locate service pipes and remotely
install a new cleanout through a small vacuum
excavated bore. The surface is restored to its
original condition the same day.
10:00-10:25 a.m.
What Lies Beneath: Identifying & Maintaining
Buried Wastewater Assets
Speakers: Lauren Kubin, P.E., North Texas
Municipal Water District; Mazen Kawasmi, P.E.,
Freese and Nichols Inc.
Based on the first four years of NTMWD's 10year,
multi-sensor inspection of 710,000 LF of
gravity mains and select force mains, the system
is in better condition than anticipated. However,
it did identify unexpected discrepancies in the
record data.
10:30-11:25 a.m.
Extending Pipeline Life & Reducing/Eliminating
SSOs Through Aggressive Cleaning
Speaker: Kent Carlson, National Clay Pipe
Institute
A discussion of the appropriate tools for removal
of obstructions, roots, grease, protruding
service laterals, calcified grease and mineral
deposits; the various mechanical cleaning
methods; and the importance of matching tools
and methods to specific pipe materials.
11:30-12:00 p.m.
Coatings are Stupid! YOU are the Brains
Behind a Successful Coatings Project
Speakers: Tom Godbey and Mario Tamez,
Standard Cement Materials Inc.
