G. Willow Wilson and Clare Mackintosh Added to the Lineup of United for Libraries’ Gala Author Tea

G. Willow Wilson, Clare Mackintosh, Wayétu Moore, Chris Pavone, Juliet Grames, and Annie Ward will be the featured authors at United for Libraries’ Gala Author Tea, sponsored by ReferenceUSA, at the Grand Hyatt, Leonesa Ballroom, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27 at the ALA Midwinter Meeting & Exhibits.

A light offering of tea and a variety of treats will be served. A book signing will follow. United for Libraries will recognize the winners of the 2018 National Friends of Libraries Week Awards during the program.

Wilson (The Bird King, Grove Atlantic) is the author of the critically acclaimed novel Alif the Unseen, which won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 2013; the memoir The Butterfly Mosque; the graphic novels Cairo, Air, and Vixen; and the celebrated comic book series Ms. Marvel.

Mackintosh (After the End, Putnam/Penguin Random House) is the author of New York Times bestsellers I Let You Go, I See You, and Let Me Lie, translated into more than 35 languages and with more than 2 million copies sold worldwide. She is the founder of Chipping Norton Literary Festival and is the patron of the Silver Star Society, an Oxfordbased charity which provides special care for mothers with medical complications during pregnancy at John Radcliffe Hospital.

Moore is the author of She Would Be King (Graywolf Press), which was selected by Sarah Jessica Parker as a pick for Book Club Central. She is the founder of One Moore Book and is a graduate of Howard University, Columbia University, and the University of Southern California. She teaches at the City University of New York’s John Jay College and lives in Brooklyn.

Pavone (The Paris Diversion, Crown/Penguin Random House) is the New York Times bestselling author of The Expats, The Accident, and The Travelers. He is the winner of the Edgar and Anthony awards for best first novel.

Grames (The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna, Ecco/HarperCollins) was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and grew up in a tight-knit Italian-American family. A book editor, she has spent the last decade at Soho Press, where she is associate publisher and curator of the Soho Crime imprint. The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna is her first novel.

Annie Ward (Beautiful Bad, Park Row Books/Harlequin) has a BA in English Literature from UCLA and a MFA in screenwriting from the American Film Institute. Her first short screenplay, Strange Habit, starring Adam Scott, was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival and the Grand Jury Award winner at the Aspen Film Festival. She has received a Fulbright Scholarship and An Escape to Create Artists residency.

Advance tickets to the Gala Author Tea cost $60, $55 for United for Libraries division members. Onsite tickets cost $65, if available. Advance purchase is recommended (event code: UNI1).
