Explore Trends and Activities at Intellectual Freedom 101

What intellectual freedom issues have recently been in the news? How can library workers assist in defending privacy and the right to access information across the country? Where are conversations about these topics taking place?

At the Intellectual Freedom 101 session on Friday, June 21 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis, Georgetown University, intellectual freedom leaders will discuss censorship trends and specific ways that library workers can get involved with ALA groups and related organizations. Attendees will hear from and can pose questions to the ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF), Intellectual Freedom Committee (IFC), IFC Privacy Subcommittee, the Committee on Professional Ethics (COPE), the Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT), and the Freedom to Read Foundation (IFRT).

This session is the perfect introduction for members who are looking to get involved with intellectual freedom activities, and a great refresher for intellectual freedom fighters on current trends and issues in the field.
