LLAMA President's Program Addresses "How Do I Respond to That?"
How do you as a manager or library leader
handle incidents in your library of discrimination, micro-aggression, and interpersonal
rejection? How do you build a culture that
reduces the likelihood of EDI conflicts erupting? Many programs help library employees
develop EDI sensitivity and implement
EDI initiatives within libraries, but when
a work situation occurs that involves EDI
issues, managers often freeze and do not
know what to do - often forgetting basic

managerial approaches to handling staff and
patron conflicts.
The Library Leadership and Management
Association (LLAMA) will present "How
Do I Respond to That?" on Saturday, June
22 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at the
Washington Convention Center, 158A-B.
This panel discussion for library managers
and leaders will focus on how to effectively
manage challenging diversity, equity, and
inclusion issues as they happen. The panelists

will describe how they would respond when
presented with EDI-related scenarios based
on actual events.
Lynn Hoffman, president of the Library Leadership and Management Association, will welcome panel facilitator Don
Crankshaw, equity and well-being officer,
Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library.
