WORK 2020

Fiscal 16 commenced with the presentation
of a new strategic plan - the Program of
Work 2020 - to the board of directors in
August, the approval of that plan at the
September Board of Directors meeting, and a
re-budgeting of the fiscal year to include the
plans' new strategic implications to budget,
which was approved by the board at its
meeting in December, 2015.
The plan is in full force and effect is
evidenced by the programmatic and fiscal
notes enumerated within this annual report. 

In April 2016, HCP hosted the 15th Annual Health
Care Symposium in Costa Mesa, in partnership with
the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles
County and the Coalition of Orange County
Community Health Centers. The event, built around
the theme "The Power of Community Health Centers,"
enabled HCP to lead discussions on important issues
regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the
future of community health centers. The keynote
address was given by Tonya Bowers, Acting Director
of the Bureau of Primary Health Care.

The Center for Care Innovations (CCI) awarded HCP
a grant and status as one of its statewide Innovation
Hubs, which serve to test and evaluate new ideas, to
accelerate adoption of innovations into practice
across the safety net. Veenu Aulakh, CCI's Executive
Director subsequently published a piece entitled
"What Are You Willing to Stop Doing?" that praised
HCP for having the courage to respond to a changing
environment by disrupting our business model to stay
relevant and add value for health center members. 
Allison Coleman, CEO of Capital Link, shared with
HCP member centers the results of member
assessments, which provided a collective picture of
performance, strengths and weaknesses, and trends
over a three-year period. In addition to tracking the
performance patterns, Coleman provided counsel to
members on how to use the actionable information.
