Instead, I dreamt of flying the airplanes that crisscrossed above our apartment. In elementary school, I had to write a book report. I wanted to write about the history of airplanes, and the Wright brothers' first flight. At the local bookstore, I quickly grabbed a book on the subject. However, when I returned home I was surprised to find that I had mistakenly grabbed a biography on Frank Lloyd Wright (I honestly thought he was one of the Wright brothers). That book changed the way I saw the world. It was a moment that changed everything. Do you remember Highlights magazine for children? It was an educational magazine with an amazing arts section with clever instructions on how to construct impressive dimensional objects using household materials. I was obsessed. My most vivid memory of hospitality was during my first trip to see my family in Puerto Rico. My uncle Antonio took me on a tour around the island, including Old San Juan.
