Welcome to the 2015 Hospitality Design Exposition and
Conference (HD Expo)! We are so glad you could join us.
Based on the pre-registration numbers, we think this is going
to be one of our most successful shows, and we owe that to
you-the attendees and exhibitors.
The excitement starts with our packed show ﬂoor, featuring
some 830 exhibitors. Many manufacturers save their big
debuts of the year for HD Expo, and we are excited to see
their latest and greatest. The judges for the 19th annual IIDA/
HD Product Design Competition will be scouring the show ﬂoor on Wednesday to ﬁnd this
year's standouts, while a panel of three will also be walking the entire exhibit hall looking
for the most eye-catching booth designs. All the winners will be showcased in tomorrow's
Show Daily so don't forget to pick up a copy.
The show ﬂoor will also be home to our Social Hub (booth #1955). The Hilton
Worldwide design team took inspiration from their new lifestyle brand, Canopy, for the
space's look, and it will be a great place to rest your feet, have a drink, or listen to one
of our 30-minute talks: either the HD Conversations with leading brand executives and
hoteliers on topics such as luxury today and the importance of storytelling, or NEWH's
Green Voice Conversations with the Experts tackling various sustainability issues (I am
most curious about the discussion on biophilic design). The full Social Hub schedule is
on pages 32 and 34.
Between these talks and our panels in the conference rooms on the lower level, we have
more than 30 sessions to help inspire and educate-with many topics taken directly
from the pages of Hospitality Design (HD) magazine. For instance, get an insider's look at
ﬁve new lifestyle brands from the minds behind them during Brand New: Lifestyle Game
Changers on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.; learn how designers are overcoming the challenge
of tight budgets at Design on a Dime on Thursday at 11 a.m.; and hear from three owners
who have pushed the envelope on the deﬁnition of sustainable design by becoming one
with the community at the Community Builders panel on Thursday at 3 p.m. And don't miss
our two signature sessions-keynoter Clodagh and the HD/ISHP Owners' Roundtable-on
Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday at 9:30 a.m., respectively.
Our Las Vegas roundup in the May issue of HD showcases a handful of new places on and
off the Strip. If you want to check out two of them ﬁrsthand-the SLS and Delano-stop
by the registration desk to see if there are still spots on our site visits on Wednesday.
We know there are a lot of events in our industry throughout the year and we want to thank
you again for spending these three days with us. And a special thank you to our association
partners-NEWH, ASID, ISHP, IIDA, AH&LA, and BLLA-who also help to build and foster
this community we all are honored to be a part of.
