2 1. Deep, lounge-like sofas and ottomans; a large visual graphic; wavy plaster on the right-hand wall; and warm LED lighting set the tone in the main waiting area. 2. The main consultation room includes a conference table for more detailed discussions, as well as custom cabinetry for the practice's marketing and support materials. 3. The view from the reception area toward the corridor to all the operating rooms. The curved wall with privacy film (left) delineates the two consultation rooms. 4. In this informal consultation room, textured privacy film along the curved glass wall starts a foot above the floor, so the finishes and lighting spill from the reception area into the room, providing continuity. 5. A typical OR has white custom cabinetry, which contrasts with the dark rubber flooring. The flooring mimics the color of the porcelain tile elsewhere throughout the space. 6. The back waiting area/check-out area sits outside the main OR, set off from the employee lounge and private offices. A second exit from this space allows staff and patients to exit without the need to walk back through main reception. GEOFFREY HODGDON 1
