9 9: The infusion suite includes spaces that allow natural light to permeate all the program components of the cancer center. Nine bays are splayed along the garden wall with movable partitions to allow patients to socialize. Two "buddy" bays are included as well as two private treatment rooms and one private bay. 10: The expanded outpatient surgery facilities, housed on the third floor in 38,000 square feet, add six ORs and 18 prep and recovery rooms. Patients will transition from waiting room to procedure room to recovery room while remaining in a private clinical space. 11: The ORs are equipped with the latest minimally invasive surgical technology and equipment, while communication technologies allow real-time consultations with peers and experts. 12: Techniques were implemented throughout the building to bring daylight to otherwise dark places. A light scoop over a nurses' station in the digestive health department bounces natural light from glazing above perimeter patient rooms into the building interior. During the evening, this scoop is vertically illuminated via integrated cove lighting. 10 12 80 HCDmagazine.com 11.15 LIAM FREDERICK PHOTOGRAPHY 11http://www.HCDmagazine.com
