The Psycho-Social
Rehabilitation
(PSR) model of care
architecture manifests itself through
layering of clinical
treatment zones:
House, Neighborhood and Downtown.
House amalgamates
the residential type
spaces of the inpatient unit around the
central care station,
including individual
patient bedrooms
and smaller social
spaces to create a
tranquil, contemplative environment.

Neighborhood accommodates larger
treatment spaces
for group therapy
and skills development. Downtown
represents a town
square gathering
space, a hive of
social activity, where
patients, staff and
visitors interact in
a normalized social
environment. Each
zone represents

of the Psychosocial
Model of Rehabilitation, ("PSR"), facilitating advancement
of patient health by

the individual and promoting involvement
of family and community, culminating in
patient reintegration
within the community. Southwest Centre's
space plan is a physical
manifestation of
the PSR journey of
recovery and return
