SUMMER IS ALMOST here. And with it comes fun

in the sun, barbeques and ice cream, and packing the kids in the car to hit the beach. Vacation is certainly a rite of summer. And while we
may no longer be able to enjoy carefree days for
three hot months, a one- or two-week getaway
is still a vital part of our physical and mental
well-being.
Study after study shows that down time can
make your business life more productive. In
fact, people who take vacations have lower
stress, less risk of heart disease, a better outlook on life, and more motivation to achieve goals.
Seems like vacationing should be a no-brainer, but research also reveals
that most Americans work more than anyone else in the industrialized
world. We take less vacation time, work longer days, and retire later.
It's clearly important that we as individuals step away from the daily
grind. And that includes professionally, too-sometimes, you just need
to get out of the office and remind yourself why you do what you do. The
Healthcare Design Expo & Conference is just the opportunity you need.
HCD Expo is organized around the idea that the design of healthcare environments directly impacts the safety, operation, clinical outcomes, and
financial success of healthcare facilities-both now and into the future.
This year's HCD Expo taking place Nov. 2-5 in New Orleans will showcase best practices as well as the latest design products to help you achieve
those goals. As an attendee, you'll have the opportunity to earn continuing
education credits, network with peers, explore new ideas and innovations,
and influence the direction this industry takes going forward.
You'll find all of this and more in three action-packed days that I promise
will leave you inspired and motivated to take your business to the next level.
Our host city is one of the hottest markets in the country for healthcare
design, too, making this year's show particularly timely. And if you haven't
been to New Orleans in a while, you're certainly in for a treat.
The HCD Expo team and our association partners led by The Center for
Health Design are working hard to develop a conference that will make
this "business vacation" well worth your time. Registration opens in June,
