Brook Outpatient
Center represents a
joint venture between Rush
University Medical Center and
Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, a private
academic physician group, to bring advanced
care closer to Chicago's western suburbs. The center, designed by CannonDesign (Chicago), fully opened and
began welcoming patients early this year. The three-story,
100,000-square-foot facility unites nearly 20 different disciplines and houses an outpatient surgery center, 65 exam rooms,
physical and occupational therapy, full imaging services, a
sports performance center, and an attached parking structure.
The project is anticipated to achieve LEED Silver certification
and leverages a universal grid design to maximize adaptability
and long-term value. Conceived as a hub for patients, it offers
everything from adult primary care services to orthopedic care.
Orthopedic doctors from six subspecialties treat sports injuries, joint pain, spine and back issues, and more. Additionally, a home-health tech area offers patients a
space where they can learn how to improve
and track their health via consumer
technologies like smart scales,
blood pressure cuffs, and
smart watches.

ADVOCATE AURORA HEALTH is building a new 150,000-square-
foot multistory ambulatory surgery and health center in Greenfield, Wis. The center, scheduled for completion in August
and designed by HGA Architects and Engineers (Milwaukee), consolidates outpatient facilities in a multidisciplinary specialty hub. Based on a consumer-first, collaborative care model, the building has an orthopedic
exam area and office space with a full array of imaging
modalities located at the ground floor main entry, in a
retail-inspired environment. Surgical, recovery, and
pain management services are on the floors above. The
top floor is home to a destination Sports Health Center
that boasts views of the surrounding forested neighborhoods. There, orthopedic patients rehab with healthy
athletes in a high-energy environment that promotes vitality and provides additional motivation for recovery. In addition, the building's program includes gastrointestinal and pediatric services.
