Here's to the Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners achieving excellence
in renovating single spaces

NOW IN ITS 11th year, the Remodel/Renovation Competition serves as an annual opportunity to

celebrate the work so many are doing-not the big-budget greenfield projects, but the " how do we
breathe new life into this existing space? " projects. It's always impressive to review submissions and
see what's been achieved, no matter how outdated a building might be at the onset of the work.
This year, we decided to broaden the program to submissions across any single space, as opposed
to designating categories. And we were blown away by the breadth of projects we saw, and that includes in our winners. Our Gold, Silver, and Bronze renovations comprise a behavioral health hospital, pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, and an oral health center for people with disabilities. If
you're intrigued, you should be. Turn the page to read all about them.
You'll find profiles of the projects including before-and-after photos and jury comments on why the
renovations were so impressive. As for our jury members, you'll find them listed at right; they include
architects, interior designers, and facility managers who were assembled by The Center for Health
Design. Many thanks go out to them for their time. I'd also like to thank our sponsor, Interwoven, for
supporting this important program.
And, remember, this special section includes a gallery of all additional submissions to the
competition, offering details and photos of those projects, too. I hope you enjoy it. And please join me
