The new i-CAT FLX “I thought that having a 3D unit would be amazing, and I could really use it in my practice.” Dr. Hermanson is a general practitioner who shares his office with another GP and an oral surgeon who places implants. He says that having an i-CAT will help him and his colleagues to “better evaluate the health of the bone, bony pockets for periodontal evaluation, and position of the roots in the jaw.” He explains further, “A lower molar will typically have two roots, but once in a while one of those roots split, and it is important for us to be aware of that.” The detailed data that the i-CAT scans provide will help Dr. Hermanson with some of the more specialized procedures that he offers, such as restorative endodontics. “I have always used periapical films, bitewings and panoramic imaging, all of which are two dimensional.
