SOUND ABSORBING TRYSIL WOOD PANELING
Trysil Acoustic Paneling provides increased sound absorption
so that at a sound frequency of 175-700 approximately 80 percent of the sou nd is absorbed.
Trysil combines the rich, elegant beauty of fine wood paneling
with high acoustical quality. It is ideal for installations requiring a
low noise level and beautification of both walls and ceiling.
Trysil's acoustical properties are provided by numerous circular chambers built into each panel to absorb the sound. Noise
penetrates the panel through slots and is contained in the chambers.
In addition, Trysil is available with a low flame spread, rating
index of 40, enabling it to meet the stringent specifications of
most building codes.
It can be used for many applications where it is imperative to
control reflected sound and provide a beautiful interior. It is more
economical than the combined installed costs of sound treatment
and decorative wall paneling.

The beauty of this paraboloid-mirror system is that visitors
to the opera house cannot see the source of light, the fluorescent
tube, unless they are directly beneath the assembly. In the drama
theatre, for instance, the reflectors throw the light forward to the
stage. The sudience, facing the stage, with their backs to the light
sources, are really not aware of where the light comes from. Each
strip of lights is concealed within a channel in the ceiling.
The G.E.C.-Philips Opera House Lighting Company Pty. Ltd.,
a two-eompany consortium was formed to develop the lighting
system for the opera house.

NEW LIGHTING CONCEPT DEVELOPED FOR
SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE
Designing interior lighting for the Sydney, Australia, opera
house called for a system that would preserve and enhance the
visual impact of this elegant structure - dynamic arches, open
spaces, vast stretches of granite floors and walls in the foyers.
To be avoided were the traditional lighting systems generally
found throughout the world - gilt and chandeliers.
The solution was a system of zinc die cast "mirrors" - rectangular shaped, twin concave sections featuring a highly reflective chrome finish. These paraboloid reflectors are fixed in
assemblies containing fluorescent tubes of various wattages. This
lighting system provides light that is subdued and uniformly distributed over the area to be lit. It is light without glare.
In all, 70,000 of these reflectors are used to light the concert

A follow spotlight that requires no lenses has been introduced
by Berkey Colortran, Inc., a division of Berkey Photo, Inc. Dubbed the Colorspot, the new radically designed light represents
the "first significant design innovation in a follow spotlight in
35 years," according to Peter T. Coe, Berkey Colortran president.
The Colorspot is designed for use in theaters, auditoriums,
churches, arenas, etc. It is fitted with a high quality aluminized
nickel substrate optical projection mirror, and develops 800,000
beam candlepower with a 1 KW tungsten-halogen lamp in a 9 0
field. Equipped with a five-eolor boomerang, an optional 9 0 x
20 0 spread lens, curtain shutters and iris, the Colorspot is capable
of throws from 30 to 100 feet.
A joystick control perm its rapid lamp access and optical
alignment, while a newly-designed precision socket assures proper
lamp positioning. The Colorspot is 35" long, 32" wide and is
adjustable from 57" to 71" in height. The unit weighs 114 Ibs.
with the spread lens and 110 Ibs. without.

A major TV studio has solved a safety problem in their production department. Frequent moving and refocusing of studio
spotlights required station personnel to climb ladders or scaffolds
with one hand while carrying heavy spotlights.
Now with the help of an Economy "Stock-Aide" one man
can move the platform into position, place the spotlight on the
platform, and push a button until they are raised to the correct
working height.
The man now has both.hands free to do the work more quickly
and safely, no longer having to worry about holding onto a ladder.
The platform is completely enclosed by a fixed rail and midrailings on all four sides with a toe board on three sides. The
platform is large enough to carry tools and equipment for the
overhead work.
