Slide Projector Dissolve Stand

New from Lear Siegler's Bogen Division is the COM mixer-preamplifier. Its six channels accept both low- and high-impedance microphones. Two of the channels also accept telephone lines, tape
players, tuners and turntables with either magnetic or ceramic cartridges. Each channel has its own volume control. In addition, all six
channels feature active mixing, eliminating interaction between channels, minimizing mixing noise, and assuring constant input sensitivity
as channels are added. It has a master volume control, separate bass
and treble controls and an illuminated, professional VU meter with a
range switch for two different settings. The COM has a built-in circuit
for remote volume control and another circuit that can cut off either or
both of two channels when emergency announcements are necessary. Other provisions include links for an acoustic equalizer, power
amplifiers, auxiliary electrical connections and special sound line outputs. The COM will stand alone or can be added to any standard
sound equipment rack with the RPK-38 panel kit. The mixer-preamplifier operates from either 120/240 Vac, 50/60 Hz or +24/28

A compact versatile dissolve stand for vertical alignment of projectors for multiple image, single-screen slide presentations has been introduced by Singer Education Systems. Available in basic two- and
three-projector models, the new dissolve stand is designed to permit
"piggyback" stacking for the accommodation of additional projection
units. A 5" tilt adjustment from the horizontal (1 0" overall) allows vertical matching of images. A horizontal adjustment is provided to assure image superimposition. It is made of sturdy .100" anodized
aluminum throughout. All adjustments lock solidly. Feet recesses hold
the projectors firmly in place. Clearance above the slide tray insures
ample space for its removal and replacement. The unit disassembles
for easy transportation and reassembles completely with a twist of the
fingers. Top and bottom sections are bolted together for transport
with the same hardware used in assembly to form a portable 6" x 13"
x 17" unit weighing only 6 pounds.
Designed primarily to hold Singer Caramate 3100 series silent projectors, and Caramate 3200 series sound/slide projectors, it is compatible with similarly-dimensioned Eastman Kodak Ektagraphic, and

Australians Put Entertainment in a New Light

New Lighting Control System Introduced By Berkey Colortran
A new compact microprocessor based lighting control system
dubbed "Colortrack", has been introduced by Berkey Colortran, Inc.,
division of Berkey Photo Inc. The Colortrack lighting control system is
designed for use in theatrical, television studio, and trouping applications. It features control of 96 dimmer channels and incorporates a
color coded CRT display that is color coordinated with the operator's
control keyboard for ease of operation. The Colortrack control system
permits the storage of approximately 1000 cues of memory for each
of the 96 channels and incorporates timed, auto, and manually operated faders. Five different data displays are provided for stage, memory, "Channel Track", limit, and submaster functions. Ten dual purpose submasters are provided for both memory and manual back-up
control. Library storage is provided via a mini floppy disc. A heavy
duty storage case is provided for trouping storage.
The "Colortrack" is 19.5" wide x 21.5" deep x 11.5" high and
weighs 46 Ibs. The unit is designed for use on 120 volt, 60 hz., and

USIIT Winter, 1980

A lighting instrument company, Rock Industries Pty. Ltd., of Chippendale, New South Wales, Australia, announces a new portable
lighting stand and a lighting truss, both specifically engineered for
touring. Their winch-up stand to support light incorporates a threepoint stand frame which slides along the main frame for compact storage. A single extension on the stand reaches 5.2 feet (3.6 m.) high,
while a double extension raises up to 330.6 Ibs (150 kg.) of lights
32.6 feet (5.4 m.) above the entertainment area. The frame is stable,
yet easily demountable. A compact ratchet winch and steel wire provides the lift mechanism. No additional accessories are necessary.
The required number of lights can be pre-set by bolting them onto a
pipe which fits at the top of the frame assembly and is lifted to the
necessary height.
The company also offers a 11.8 sq. inch (300 sq mm) tubular truss
section which forms a high capacity lighting bridge across a stage.
Each two-meter long truss section is bolted together to form a 32.8
foot (10m.) long bridge onto which lights are mounted. The company
is currently designing a heavyweight truss capable of carrying a half
ton of lights and assorted electrics across a span of 60 feet (18.2 m.).
Again, the emphasis will be on ease of assembly and relative lightness
for transport between locations.
