3M Fiber Optic System
3M inrroduces the Design Lights Fiber
Optic System which provides the appearance of neon in a flexible and safe system.
The new system is suitable for both
inrerior and exterior use.
Consisting of a light projection unit with color
wheel, a 150-wart lamp,
flexible fiber optic tubing
and mounring accessories,
it can be installed at about
the same cost as neon.
The flexible tubing can be applied in
almost any shape or angle. A5 no electricity, gas or heat runs through the system,
lights can be safely used almost anywhere,
even in damp environmenrs.
Densely bundled strands of fiber
optics encased in flexible plastic tubing,
Design Lights incorporate 3M's fresnel
technology, providing a prism effect for
maximum light transmission.
There are eight colors ro choose from:
aqua, green, blue, yellow, magenta, purple, white and orange. Colors can be
locked in or changed.

The PRO lOHE is designed for recording
and sound reinforcement. It fearures
neodymium magnet for high energy output. The microphone also features a double-dome diaphragm for extended high
frequency response, a floating diaphragm
to minimize handling noise, and a voice
coil wound with copper clad aluminum
wire for low mass with high output.
PRO 25 Hypercardioid Dynamic
Microphone. The new PRO 25 is suited to
applications involving high sound pressure levels. With its motor system, large
diaphragm and well-controlled polar pattern, the PRO 25 is an effective rool in
picking up highly dynamic instruments
such as drums, piano and bass.
PRO 35R Remote-power Condenser
Microphone. The new PRO 35R is for
close miking of high-intensity instruments, providing output even in sound
fields as high as 141 dB SPL. Featuring a
rugged gooseneck allowing precise positioning for optimum pickup, the PRO
35R also includes an AT8418 UniMountâ„¢ instrument mount which
entirely surrounds the microphone with
foam, providing both a windscreen and
the elimination of instrument noise. A
rubber grip spring clamp mounts the
microphone securely without marring the
instrument's surface. The 35R features a

Barcus-Berry Planer Wave
Piano System
Barcus-Berry Inc. has developed a new
type of sensor for piano pickup problems.
It is called the Barcus-Berry planer wave
piano system.
The sensing device measures abour
2 Yz" long, 1" high and Yz" wide. It can be
installed on any piano. It also permits special effects devices like chorus, flanging
and digital delay to be used. Traditionally
there have been microphones used that
have resulred in feedback problems. This
new pickup planar wave system virtually
eliminates feedback even when the piano
lid is open at full stick. It also provides
signal isolation, such as rejection of undesired ambient noise, and it assures consistent sound quality regardless of the acoustic environmenr in which the piano is
situated.
