COURTESY GABINETTO FOTOGRAFICO - SOPR. GALLERIE - FIRENZE Figure 13. The Bacchidi, ground plan by B. Peruzzi çade behind the Temple of Apollo. 5: Via (street): Located stage-right, just behind and off-stage from the last column for the Temple of Apollo. This via is the horizontal street that runs between the forestage and the vista. 6: Templum Apollinis (Temple of Apollo): This is the large colonnade and façade structure that takes up the entire upper-right forestage. The identification is off stage-right. 7: Domus Nicobolj/Philoxenus (House of Nicobolus/Philoxenus): The word Nicobolus has been lined out and Philoxenis written below it; thus House of Philoxenus. 8: Domus Bachidis (House of the Bacchidi): This is the brothel represented by the flat scenery adjoining the vista, stage-left. 9: Giardino (Garden): This is written along side the vista up-stage of the Domus Bachidis, locating it on the ground plan. It is shown in detail on the elevation of the vista. 10: Fugga: This is a notation written diagonally just below the on-stage side of the flats downstage-right of the Domus Bachidis. It indicates that the space between the flats (actually the via) is an exit. 11: Via ad forum (way or street to the Forum): Notation on the down-stage rectangle number one. Foro is also noted to the left, apparently to mark the rise in the floor. 12: Botega (shop): Notation on square offright of rectangle number one. 13: Botega: Notation on next square off-right of rectangle number two. 14: Botega: Notation on upper off-stage corner of rectangle number three. The botegas are yet another version of the "shop on the corner." THEATRE SUMMER 2007 DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY 41
