2008. The outcome of the assessment will have an effect on the focus of USITT finances in the future. An exploration committee was formed to research the feasibility of professional development activities separate from the yearly conference. This is a joint activity with the ESTA Foundation. It is likely to be a cost to the Institute as we explore and develop the process but has the potential of becoming another substantial income stream for the Institute. It also offers affordable continued professional training for our members. The new Prague reorganization committee has met and delivered their report and a new national tour leading to Prague 2011 is under discussion. This project has the potential of needing start-up support but could result in another income stream for the Institute and national exposure for our members. These initiatives provide an immediate impact to our bottom line. Keeping our eyes focused on increased income/opportunity while supporting all the initiatives of the Institute will be an important responsibility to the Board of Directors, Institute leadership, and the Finance Committee. I am confident we are all up to the task. ❖ W I N T E R 2008 THEATRE DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY 69
